We are happy to announce, at long last, "Pure Jerry," a new series of Jerry Garcia live concert recordings. While subject to considerable speculation, relatively little has been known about the Garcia tape vault. Up until now, the available recordings of Jerry's concerts as bandleader have been relatively scarce and of uneven sound quality, unlike those of Grateful Dead, whose concert recordings circulate abundantly. The "Pure Jerry" series will be selected from a substantial and remarkably diverse library, Jerry's entire independent live archive.

The first "Pure Jerry" release is "Theatre 1839." This three-disc set was recorded July 29 & 30, 1977, at a small San Francisco music hall during a break in the Dead's touring. The Jerry Garcia Band of the day included Keith and Donna Jean Godchaux, John Kahn and Ron Tutt. Running almost 2 1/2 hours, "Theatre 1839" features the 18 best performances captured during the two-night run. (Neither show was recorded in its entirety, reasons for which have been lost to time.)

The "Pure Jerry" series is available exclusively through jerrygarcia.com. "Theatre 1839" is now available; the three-CD set is priced at $19.98.
